church!
Welllllll it was my first time goin to church here in Italy and i was so scared. First of all Luciano made me drive so i could practice. oh my gosh, we lived but it is so much harder to drive here!! Its scary. Seriously like all kidding aside it really does scare me to drive! Anyways we show up and the building is just so little and old looking, we walk in and they do church backwards. So i go to relief society with one lady named Silvia who spoke okay english but as we were walking she ran into another woman who was born and raised in Italy but moved to Utah to learn english and ended up getting married so she lives in utah now. Exo facto-perfect english...what up translator! Worked out great. The bishop is her older brother so she introduced me to him and his english was awful so our meeting was the most awkward bishops interview ive ever had haha but in the end he was very excited to have me so i guess it was good. The utah woman translated for me the whole time but her breath reeked so that was a downfall to not knowing the language myself! Then for gospel doctrine they have 2 classes...one in italian and one in english! yayyy ENGLISH! but even tho its english you have to realize that 4 of them are brothas...straight up outta Africa-ghana, nigeria&kenya and egypt. Then theres 2 italian women, a teacher and a missionary from Colorado who looks just like Gage Blue and thats it so they all have hardcore accents i have to pay real close attention and try to understand what theyre saying but i know itll onlly get easier from here on out. All the brothas are so excited im there :) haha more black boys dad ;) But they are all solid- super nice, way faithful and just make it really fun. I basically hung around the missionaries just cuz they can translate and i got an italian book of mormon and they know Brian Parker! They all love him at this branch...so thanks to him, they all love me now! Everyone kept asking me where my husband was and i was just like noooooo im 19 and a nanny...."oh okay so wheres your husband?" NOOOO let me spell this out for you haha gosh i probably had to explain that i moved here by myself to nanny, not with my husband to nanny at least 4 times. Even tho i dont understand much when i go, its still nice being with people that i know would help me if i needed help and to hear the hymns. I cant sing italian of course so i just hum haha it works too but overall, church ended up being better than i thought :)

Oh the tales you will have! Very interesting and what a mixture of cultures. It sorta reminds me of the time we traveled to the East coast...Goodness so many languages at the same time in one building!
ReplyDeleteWhat did Luciano think?
hahah yeah that was such a fun trip! And italy is full of all different races and tons of different dialects. Like Luciano and his siblings speak a different dialect than their father....wierd huh? Luciano left cuz i thought it would go sacrament first so he was gunna come to that but since they did it backwards he wasnt gunna come with me to relief society obviously and he didnt even know what priesthood was so he just said hed go home and come back at noon to pick me up so he came a littler earlier and talked with the older men towards the end and it went well :) He still has tons of questions he keeps asking me.
ReplyDeletethat's awesome that he went! And I'm glad that you survived driving in Italy!
ReplyDeleteIm so happy you found an LDS church to attend there!! I was thinking about that and worried for you that you would have to worship on your own, but I know missionaries go to Italy but who knew if your little town would have a church, and it did!! That is great!! You will make so many friends there I am sure!!
ReplyDeleteYeah its in Brescia so its a good 25 minutes away driving but still i am definitely glad its not any further! And so many people have been so nice they have all given me their numbers in case i need anything so thats a relief.
