Missionary Work :)
Luisa and Luciano have been very interested in mormons...everyone we meet they tell them im mormon and run through a quick version of what we believe and they all are so amazed that i am 19 and dont drink wine beer or any kind of alchohol, smoke, drink coffe or tea, or have sex before marriage. Today they had 2 friends over for dinner and they were talking with me well thru luisa and luciano but they too were so interested and i asked them if they had ever heard of mormons before. None of them have!!! Its so weird to me that they have never heard of Mormons and they have never seen a missionary. So i got on FB and showed them pictures of Kolten's mission and TJ's mission (just cuz i know it'll make koltens day, they did comment on how good looking you are haha TJ too, they told me "ohhhhh goooood choice! *picture hilarious accents and eye brow raises*) anyways i feel like a little missionary over here because they know absoloutely nothing! The only things they know are what they looked up on wilkipedia....oh boy right? so i make sure they ask me not the computer, but everything i've told them about they are so nice about it and interested and tell everyone! The only thing they think is crazy is that i want to get married already haha and that my brothers will be getting married and that i have friends that are married...that blows their minds cuz no one gets married that young here, but everything else gets them excited and they constantly have questions for me. Luciano is coming to church with me tomorrow :) so hopefully thats good, i wont be able to understand anything so i wont know whats they're talking about or be able to explain anything to him...hopefully he will like it and understand it.

I remember when we were at the MTC with Josh and they had some sort of visual that showed how many Book of Mormons were printed. I was actually shocked and even now I just googled... 150,000,000 in 2011. There are over 300,000,000 Americans...and I have multiples of multiples of this Book in my house. It really occurred to me that the Church is still very obscure! Sounds like you are being a great example. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteGood job Ayrica! I'm glad he's going to church tomorrow. I hope it goes well. At least it's not a fast and testimony meeting. Cause sometimes even in english those ones can get a little strange and hard to explain. :)
ReplyDeletewelllll little did i know they do church backwards here and so i went to relief society by myself and he went home cuz he didnt wanna go to priesthood by himself. Buttt they still are so curious its awesome they asked me all about church when we got home and he came early to pick me up so he talked with the missionaries and some other old man for a while...of coure it was in italian so i didnt understand any of it but it sounded good! :) And really lacie? Thats crazy...theres only like 12,000 mormons total in all of italy.
ReplyDeleteI now kind of know how you feel. It's so weird going from AZ where there is an LDS church on almost every comer, and then being in Tennessee and Kentucky, I haven't seen a single one.
