saving all of their lives

So, last night i literally saved Carlo's life. Carlo is a two year old boy who lives in another section of the house. He is  Ludovicka's brother and their parents are always gone i've only seen them once so their grandparents watch them and live with them. Anyways last night it was just getting dark so about 7 and the grandparents went inside to stir something they were cooking and i assumed Carlo followed them in there and i think they thought he did too. So im just sitting under the porch watching Leone and Camilla and Ludo play and another woman (her name is freakin nuts so i dont know it but she is "the doctors wife" haha) she went outside the gates to get her mail so she opened up the gates half way and didnt shut them. So im watching ludo camilla and leone who are in a total opposite direction and idk why i just looked back at the gates again and i see this little head bobbing up and down behind one of the cars which is close to the gate and its Carlo running as fast as he can towards the gates. Right out of the gate is the street...these roads are insane. To leave their house it is a complete blind corner, they dont even have the mirrors on their road so when they leave the gates they just pull out super super slow and if they hear a honk they know a car is coming and they'll stop but if they dont then its clear obviously so its kinda like heyyy go risk your life pulling outta your drive way. So Carlo is runnin straight out there. Without even thinking i just jumped up and ran after him through the gravel and swoop him up just in the knick of time. He was about 2 feet away from the street and right as i get him swooped up on my hip a bread truck...idk what they are called but its the biggest vehicles ive seen here that arent on the highway just the biggest in the regular streets...goes right past us so like 4 feet away, followed quickly by 2 small cars. Oh my heavenssss you can only image how hard my heart was pumping!!! A second later and he most definitely would not be here today and the doctors wife would probably hate herself for leaving the gate open. The grandpa came back out cuz he heard me yell "Carloooo!" when i ran after him but he didnt see how close we actually were to getting killed, but i could tell he was freaked. Even tho i cant understand him and he cant understand me he just looked at me horrified! His eyes were huge and just nodded his head saying grazie grazie grazie over and over while i passed carlo off to him. Crazy night. And im saving the rest of their lives in a funny way :) PANCAKES!!!! they do not sell cake mixes or cookie mixes or panacke mix here...um what?! I LOVEEE pancakes. So we got on pinterest, looked up some pancake recipes and we are making them tonight and luisa is so excited. She loves cookies too (she lived in America for a few months doing the same thing im doing but in like 1999 so she has had pancakes and cookies when she was there but hasnt had them since). Thank goodness for pinterest...i am obsessed with it. They only have croisants and those type of pastries here sooooo im very excited that they want to try cookies and cakes and pinterest has all the recipes from scratch so BAM saving their food lives because seriously i could not live without pancakes <3

 Where we live :)

 Just so you can get a feel of what it is like....This is Calcinato. Its a little hill and the big building at the top is the church and we live right below it. Because this was built way back in the day, the whole town centers around the church so this little hill goes out from the church and thats it. The is off of a path that Leone and I take every once in a while. Its just a path for joggers and bikers through the fields so its very nice and super pretty just to get out and walk around.
